When Tom Faiers was 18 and training in Murcia he met Alejandro Valverde and Luis Leon Sanchez who encouraged him to race in Spain. Faiers found it really hard to start with but his breakthrough came in 2009 with eighth in the Vuelta Madrid, one of the biggest under 23 races in Spain.

After taking the 'tri route' into cycling Tom Faiers made his race base in Espana where some strong rides caught the eye of Footon-Servetto's DS, Matxin. A two year pro contract was signed and he was off and running - but how has the Pro Tour been treating the young man from Cheltenham?
