Velits, de 28 años, fue siempre señalado como candidato a las grandes vueltas, algo que sólo pudo refrendar una vez, en la gran ronda española de 2010, cuando finalizó en el podio y dejó destellos de su calidad.

Le coureur slovaque Peter Velits vient de s'engager pour la saison prochaine avec la formation BMC Racing Team. Alors qu'il semble stagner avec l'équipe Omega Pharma-Quick Step, il a voulu changer d'air pour relancer sa carrière et "se réaffirmer comme coureur" comme il le dit. Der Slowake Peter Velits wird ebenso wie Tony Martin, Bert Grabsch und eine Reihe weiterer Profis des aufgelösten HTC-Highroad-Teams künftig für den belgischen Rennstall Omega Pharma-QuickStep fahren. Der 26 Jahre alte U23-Weltmeister von 2007 und Vuelta-Dritte von 2010 spricht im Interview mit Radsport News über seine Pläne für die kommende Saison, über seine Zeit bei HTC-Highroad und erklärt, warum er und sein Zwillingsbruder Martin unzertrennlich sind.

Questa sera saremo insieme ad un ospite straniero, quel Peter Velits, rivelazione della Vuelta 2010, dove ha conquistato il terzo posto finale grazie alla vittoria nella cronometro di Penafiel e delle sorprendenti prestazioni in montagna.

La gran sorpresa de esta Vuelta España del 2010 fue el esloveno Peter Velits del HTC Columbia. Con su victoria en la crono de Peñafiel dio un golpe sobre la mesa y se coloco en el podium de la Vuelta, el cual no abandonaría hasta llegar a Madrid.

Excellent troisième, ou peut-être même second de la Vuelta (Mosquera contrôlé positif), Peter Velits a étonné, subjugué même. Pour Cyclism'Actu, le coureur de la Columbia est revenu sur les moments clés de l'épreuve ibérique mais fait également part de ses projets d'avenir.

Victime d'une lourde chute sur le Dauphiné Libéré, le slovaque s'était relevé avec une fracture de la clavicule. Un mois après, il reprenait la compétition sur le Tour de Pologne. L'ancien champion du monde espoir revient sur cette blessure, et sur ses ambitions...à plus ou moins long terme.

One of several exciting new talents in the ProTour peloton, Slovakian Peter Velits burst onto the international scene when he won the U23 World Championship in Stuttgart last September. The win also brought him (as well as his twin brother Martin) a ProTour contract with Team Milram.

Peter Velits won the U 23 road race of the 2007 UCI World Championships. The 22 year old Slovakian rider signed with German Pro-Tour team Milram and thinks that after his world title cycling will grow in his home country.

Vor wenigen Wochen sorgte Peter Velits bei den Weltmeisterschaften in Stuttgart für Furore, als er sich den Titel im U23-Straßenrennen holte. Mit Radsport aktiv sprach der 22-jährige Slowake über seinen WM-Titel, das Jahr beim Team Wiesenhof und seinen Wechsel zum ProTour-Rennstall Milram.
