For me, it was the first time in the Giro d’ Italia, my national race. It was unbelievable. It was a perfect day. It was a big surprise because we thought Dario Cataldo but because I finished first in the team time trial the day before.

Il n'est certainement pas le plus connu de l'équipe Sky, mais c'est bel et bien Salvatore Puccio qui porte le maillot rose au soir de la deuxième étape du Tour d'Italie. Après un contre-la-montre par équipe parfaitement géré, Bradley Wiggins et ses équipiers ont offert un beau cadeau à cet Italien, qui n'était pas certain de participer au Giro. Et si Puccio récolte, pour l'heure, les lauriers, Bradley Wiggins a lancé un message fort à ses rivaux. A commencer par Vincenzo Nibali.

Siamo oggi con Salvatore Puccio, uno dei maggiori talenti azzurri ma non solo. Classe 1989, vincitore quest'anno di numerose corse fra cui spicca la vittoria al Giro delle Fiandre U23, conquistata con una bella azione di forza nel finale, da vero campione in erba.
