One assumption in modern professional cycling is that Adam Hansen will be part of the Lotto-Soudal for the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and Vuelta a España – each year, every year. That’s how it’s been for a long time and how many believed it would be again in 2017.

Ten consecutive Grand Tours is quite an achievement, but then to top it off with a solo stage win is a dream come true. One of the hardest riders in the Pro peloton; Adam Hansen runs us through his Vuelta – Ten in a row, now that’s impressive.

La Vuelta a España 2014 - Stage 19; Salvaterra de Miño - Cangas de Morrazo,

VeloVeritas, Ed Hood, 12 September 2014

VeloVeritas cycling sage, Vik hates Adam Hansen's narrow bars - they're to make him more aero and save those precious watts - but they certainly didn't do him any harm, today. Not just a win; he's saved Lotto's Vuelta - it goes from 'Ligthart and Hansen enlivening the breakaways' to 'stage winning' and that's about a million miles. By good fortune we had a chat with the man just before this Vuelta kicked off...

The next issue of RIDE Cycling Review will feature our first column by one of cycling’s more intriguing characters, Adam Hansen. Going on tradition, he’ll surely be preparing to suit up for another Grand Tour at the end of the month. He rides. He races. He rests. And while he loves the bike, he thinks about many things other than cycling. By way of an introduction for anyone who has missed RIDE #59 or the few online posts we did with him during the Tour – about the team’s race plans and his thoughts on equipment – here is a Q&A that we published in February 2013…

I enjoy the life direction I’ve taken…

Ryde Cycling News, Rob Arnold, 4 July 2014

After rolling down off the stage, past the photographers and media corp that awaited the riders backstage of the Leeds Arena on the night of the opening ceremony, Adam Hansen came to a halt at a barricade near the exit of the new complex. “Are we going to have a chat?” he asked. I nodded and replied, “That’s the plan. Do you have a minute?” He had 10.

Pez Cyclingnews, Edmond Hood, 5 May 2014

Adam Hansen is one of the most reliable & strongest domestiques in the World Tour, a valued helper for André Greipel and previously one of Mark Cavendish’s main men but he’s also a lot more. He’s a Grand Tour stage winner, a businessman, an inventor and a nice guy to boot. We caught up with him for a chat just days before he starts his 8th straight GrandTour.

Adam Hansen: Taking competitive edge into his own hands

Cyclingnews, Jane Aubrey, 14 May 2013

According to Adam Hansen (Lotto Belisol) completing three Grand Tours in 2012 not only made him stronger, but far more efficient as a rider. It's a nice parallel when you consider that not only has the 32-year-old designed a logistics program using his computer programming background for his team to ease travel pressures across the WorldTour, but also his own shoes.
