Luke Roberts is listed as ‘Coach’ on the Sunweb team page but he is also a trainer and, in old parlance, the ‘directeur sportif’ for the German-registered team. The South Australian has lived in Cologne in Germany for many years and he’s the quintessential cycling stalwart who, years after his own racing career, is advising others on their performances in competition.

Team Saxo Bank's Aussie, Luke Roberts, started cycling in 1991 at age 13. Both his father and mother were involved in the sport and following their footsteps was only natural.

The peloton brings together a great mix of cyclists. Some receive great accolades for their achievements, whilst others go through their career with anonymity and are unsung heroes. It's fair to say that Luke Roberts falls into the later category.
