Two weeks ago, Tom Meeusen would have been a top pick for a place on the podium at the world championships this weekend here in the Czech Republic. Then he was out — deleted from the Belgian roster for the race, the result of his role as a witness in the Belgian investigation into doping by doctor Chris Mertens.
