Italy’s Alessandro Petacchi (Team Milram) had a bad 2006 season. He had 'only' 13 wins - ten of them stage wins, including all five stages of Oddset Rundfahrt and the overall GC. For most riders, this would be the ride of a lifetime, but for a sprinter who took stage wins in all three Grand Tours in 2005, not getting a single tour stage was a big disappointment.

Cycling's iron man
Erik Zabel is going into his 15th year as a professional cyclist, has nearly 200 career victories, with palmares better than most teams could offer, rides from the first race of the season to the last and fills in the off-season by riding (and of course winning) six-day races.

"I do more than just ride my bike at Milram."
Milram invested a lot of money in cycling, solely because Erik Zabel (35) dedicated himself to the project. Which means that Ete feels that it's his personal responsibility to bridge the culture gap between the German and Italian half of the team.
