Just days after Jörg Jaksche signed with the Italian/Russian Tinkoff Credit Systems squad, he started at his first race since the 2006 edition of the Tour of Switzerland. At yesterdays final stage of the Giro d'Ambruzzo Jaksche was in the breakaway group of the day..

Olympic champion Mikhail Ignatiev gained another solo victory in the Trofeo Laigueglia, just five days after wining stage 3 of the Tour Méditerranéen. He is the first Russian to add his names to the race's palmarès, and, like Lance Armstrong in 1993, he took victory at a young age, 21.
