Jeff Louder
"pretty cold and snowy"

BMC racing team, 24 December 2008
The winner of this year's Tour of Utah, BMC's Jeff Louder, is looking forward to returning to riding on the road at the team training camp in California.

"These are my roads, these are my people"
Since his return to the North American racing scene after years in Europe, BMC's Jeff Louder had come close many times to the top step on an NRC race in the past. Last week he succeeded, winning the 2008 Tour of Utah, overcoming a seven seconds deficit in the final short and flat time trial.

"recover tonight and go all out for fifteen minutes tomorrow"
Utah native Jeff Louder (BMC) triumphed on the Queen Stage at the Tour of Utah, in front of an appreciative and supportive crowd. On the final climb of the brutal 98-mile (159 km) stage, Louder came out on top and moved up to second place on GC, a scant seven seconds behind Blake Cadwell.

On altitude and more....
For over a week, the BMC Racing Team lived and trained at altitude in the Utah Mountains, preparing themselves for the 2008 Tour of Utah. I caught up with Utah native and resident Jeff Louder and his teammate, Ian McKissick, prior to stage 2 to get their thoughts on altitude and the race.

"Crashes happen"
In late June, Talyor Tolleson accompanied several of his team mates to the Tour de Nez in order to hone his form for races a little later in the season but after barely 30 minutes of racing, a rider crashed right into Taylor, taking him down and breaking his collarbone.

"It just never happened"
Last month Mike Sayers of the BMC Professional Cycling Team announced that he would retire at the end of this racing season. The Sacramento rider who turned pro in 1997 has recently been riding his favourite Philly week for the 13th and last time.

Smooth recovery leads to high ambitions
Unfortunately for Tony Cruz and the BMC Racing Team, a quick two race trip to Northern Europe saw him inopportunely break his collarbone in the GP Pino Cerami. Having had a couple of weeks to recover, Tony took a few minutes to discuss his goals for and feelings about the 2008 season.

"In a split second I was out the back"
Jackson Stewart has had a couple of tough days in the Tour de Georgia. Having been involved in a late day crash on stage two, and then suffering multiple punctures in stage three, he was still up for a quick talk about how things have been going for him so far.

One cobble too many
Having come off of the Redlands Bicycle Classic in top form, Tony Cruz was very excited about the month of racing ahead of him. Unfortunately for Tony and the BMC Racing Team, his April plans were drastically altered when he crashed after 55km of racing during Thursday’s GP Pino Cerami.

"I quit my job, I moved out of my apartment and gave it a shot"
BMC Racing Team’s Scott Nydam on only his second year as a professional cyclist made his presence known by going on a solo breakaway on the second stage of the Tour of California to secure the King of the Mountains jersey, which he defended on the subsequent stages.

Fresh from Belgium
Ian McKissick, though quite new to cycling in general, has found a lot of success in his young career. Having just returned from a crash course in Belgian racing, he spent a bit of time offering us his impressions of the Euro racing he has done so far, and his view on the use of race radios.

"I've always liked the KOM competition"
Scott Nydam attacked early in the second stage of the Tour of California last month, spending a long and lonely day off the front of the peloton before being pulled back after 97 miles on his own. For his effort, the 30-year-old Colorado native earned the day's most-aggressive rider jersey.

"I knew I had to stop and they said I was hypothermic"
When the weather forecast called for rain, probably few believed that the weather would play such a painfully decisive roll in today’s stage. But the ride from Seaside to San Luis Obispo turned into a day of wet, cold and windy misery that few racers will forget quickly.

Happy with the performance
Today’s Stage 3 from Modesto to San José posed the first substantial road block in every team’s path for classification success in the 2008 Tour of California. Overcoming the hilly challenges, Moos finished the stage in ninth place, only 20 seconds behind the stage winner.

"My Dad certainly is an inspiration to me"
Anybody watching the Tour of California the past two days could be forgiven for thinking today was like the film Groundhog Day. Again there was an early break and again the result was an epic solo ride by one of the boys from BMC.

Jackson Stewart

The American Flyer
To his surprise and the pleasure of his team management, Jackson Stewart spent the first road stage of the 2008 Tour of California in an epic solo breakaway. As the race rode from Sausalito to Santa Rosa, Stewart found himself riding away from the pack without the company of any other racers.
