In her first European season Canberra's Vicki Whitelaw, racing with Australian team AIS, won a stage in the Giro d'Italia Femminile and the Tour de L'Aude and gave Australia's best performance in the elite women's time trial at the UCI Road Cycling World Championships in Varese.
