'probably cost me the win of the Vuelta'
Cadel Evans vows to keep fighting in this Vuelta a España, but he will probably lose sleep when he thinks about his ill-timed puncture in Saturday’s decisive climbing stage to Sierra Nevada. The Aussie’s chances of overall victory were shattered when he punctured near the Cat. 1 Monachil summit.

"lots of alcohol and dancing!"
Day two of the Vuelta - and it wouldn’t be a proper Grand Tour if Pez didn’t have men on the inside; ‘old married man’ and Silence-Lotto main stay Charly Wegelius took time on Sunday evening to give us an insight in to the ‘Tour of Everywhere, except Spain.’

"I don’t know how it was 10 years ago but I hope it’s better now"
Belgian Junior Road Race Champion in 2002, Silence-Lotto rider Pieter Jacobs turned professional in 2007 with Unibet.com and is a member of the Bike Pure anti-doping group, the independent anti-doping group that was conceived last year to help restore some much needed credibility to cycle sport.

"The hotels have been a little bit dodgy and this one is a shocker"
The first rest day celebrated the exit from the Pyrenees and the start of a flat middle week. It was a well deserved rest after the ardors of the first week. Silence-Lotto man, Charly Wegelius took time to give us his take on the Tour’s first excursion into the clouds.

"it’s a long way to Paris"
‘Charly, can you be bothered talking to me after all that rain, today?’ ‘45 minutes’ comes the reply; I really will have to buy that man a wedding present!

"being told I was riding the Tour de France added a twist to my day!"
Charly Wegelius wasn’t meant to be riding the Tour but due to a certain Mr Dekker’s “problems” back in his Rabobank days, the Englishman with the Finnish name got the call to arms. Right after stage 3 he took time to talk to Pez about weddings, stress, zoos, and, oh, yeah – Lance.

"going for the top step"
Cadel Evans starts his attack on the Tour de France in 2009, trying to do what no other Australian has accomplished, to step onto the top podium after 3 weeks of racing in July.

"12 days in and nothing is certain"
He’s the pro’s pro and he knows the Giro inside out; there was no one better to ask about Thursday’s dreaded 60.6 kilometres of Cinque Terre solo pain than Silence-Lotto's Brit, Charly Wegelius.

"There is nothing worse than getting wet on a bike!"
When you meet a star bike rider you kind of know what to expect and you know there is going to be a mix of bravado, self confidence and that star quality, but when you meet a young rider of only 19 who is full of it you know he has something special!

Don't let me be misunderstood
The Animals' classic of the same name applies to Cadel Evans. He was the name on everyone's lips ahead of last year's Tour de France, and events that transpired on and off the bike during those three weeks in July mean that he's still often spoken about, albeit a little bit differently.

Tom Stubbe

"You can't be a Belgian and hate frites..."
Tom Stubbe has worked his way up the ladder from stagiere at Relax-Bodysol in 2004 to Chocolade Jacques from 2005 to 2007, and then in 2008 he rode for Française des Jeux. In ’09, the 27 year old Belgian rider joins Cadel Evans at the re-molded Silence-Lotto team.
