Commonwealth Games silver medallist Alex Dowsett plans to concentrate on time trials in his first year at Team Sky next season. Dowsett, who came second in the men's 40km event in Delhi, hopes to focus on the discipline ahead of London 2012.

21-year-old Essex cyclist Alex Dowsett overcame searing heat and exhaustion to win the gold medal in the U23 European Time Trial Championship. The former Olympic Academy rider was Great Britain's sole entrant in Turkey and it was his first major outing since breaking his scapula in May.

The last time we spoke to 22 year-old Englishman Alex Dowsett he’d just finished a fine seventh in the World Under 23 Time Trial Championship. At that stage he wasn’t sure about his team for 2010 - then along came Trek-Livestrong. We caught up with him at his new base in Boulder, Colorado.
