Alejandro Valverde is back racing with Movistar at the Santos Tour Down Under following one and half year of absence from competitive cycling due to a suspension pronounced by the Court of Arbitration in Sport because of his implication in the 2006 Operation Puerto. As he finished 4th in Stage Two with the uphill finale in Stirling, he has proven to be already as competitive as he was when he got banned on May 31st, 2010, with the status of world’s number 1. If he can win the Australian stage race on Sunday, he’d be leading the World Tour again.
