Leopold König began the year with high hopes and a good form, but his Spring goals were hammered by a knee injury because of which me missed two months of racing. The 27-year-old rider came back in late April and soon afterwards finished 4th in the Bayern Rundfahrt, a result that gave him confidence that he will get into top shape for the start of the Tour de France.

The future is bright…
In stage 13, we saw an impressive ride from NetApp-Endura’s GC man, Leopold Konig, the Czech who is riding his first Tour de France as part of the German wild-card team. The 26-year-old won a stage of the Vuelta a España in 2013 and finished ninth overall. Now the hope is for a top-10 in Le Tour.

It’s been a frustrating season for Leo. Having burst onto the major scene in 2013, with a stage win and 9th place in the Vuelta, he hoped to take 2014 by storm. Unfortunately, bad luck and injury have stopped this from happening.

Leo comenzó 2014 tranquilo, corrió en Mallorca antes de ir a Omán. Allí tuvo mala suerte y pinchó en Green Mountain y no lo vimos competir con los demás. De todos modos, él está enfocado en hacerlo bien en el Tour, donde buscará un buen puesto en la general.
