Positive change

Tired, but so happy, Michael Schär looks back to his first participation in a Grand Tour. 59 riders dropped out of the Tour of Spain before the end in Madrid but the young Swiss Astana Team rider persevered. He worked hard and made a big step forward in his development as a professional rider.

‘I can breathe a little easier’
Alberto Contador looked relaxed and at ease on the Tour de France’s second rest day, largely because he was. With his stage victory atop Verbier on Sunday, Contador claimed the yellow jersey and has enough GC cushion that he can breathe a little easier going into the Tour’s final week.

In the 39km team time trial around the city of Montpellier on Tuesday Lance Armstrong took his fourth career team time trial victory in the Tour and for much of the race was tantalizingly close to a new yellow jersey, denied in the end by fractions of a second.
