Lucas Euser
The mountain goat

Slowtwitch, 1 Martxoa 2009
Garmin Slipstream's Lucas Euser is quite a climbing talent and just finished 8th at the 2009 Tour De Langkawi. He already has quite an impressive resume, including a win at the 2008 Univest Grand Prix.

Back to being a bike racer
32-year-old David Millar kick-started his 2009 season at Tour Mediterranéen with second in an individual time trial and rode to 10th overall at last week's Volta ao Algarve, results that bode well for his major goals of the season at Paris-Nice and Criterium International next month.

Sitting Pretty
With the gathering of black clouds above and the first signs of rain about to hit hard, we caught up Svein Tuft (Garmin-Slipstream) in San Jose on Tuesday morning before Stage 3 to Modesto.

Coffee time !
He seems to have been part of the professional peloton forever; but all good things must come to an end and Garmin & Sweden (or is it Wales?) strong man Magnus Backstedt has decided it’s time to retire from top line racing.

"the guys here are world class"
While in Sacramento for events surrounding the 2009 Amgen Tour of California, I had the opportunity to speak with three of Canada's foremost pro cyclists - Dominique Rollin, Svein Tuft and Michael Barry. All of them had successful 2008 seasons, and are optimistic going into the 2009 campaign

"getting stronger every day"
Believe it or not, there are two other Americans racing the Tour Down Under — George Hincapie and Timothy Duggan — though you’d be hard-pressed to know who they are, given the commotion surrounding a certain Lance Armstrong.

"You pull out the weiner"
Any interview with Garmin Slipstream's Dave Zabriskie is going to go places that many interviews do not. The following is an example of how things go when you talk to Dave Zabriskie when he has some time to kill.

"The hardest step is to win"
Garmin-Chipotle has a new winning message for 2009. PEZ caught up with Christian Vande Velde recently to find out more about the team's strategy, his own transformation into a Tour de France contender, and winter training in snowy Chicago.

Winter training
In 2006, after eight years as a pro, Christian Vande Velde won his first race in Europe at the Tour of Luxembourg. A fifth place last year in the Tour de France means that today, the American rider has gone from one of cycling's also-rans to a potential winner of the world's biggest cycle race.

Finishing domestique duties
In the world of pro cycling the transition from domestique to team leader is difficult and rare. For every rider that makes the jump, many others try and fail - or simply never try at all - but Garmin-Slipstream's Christian Vande Velde has emerged as a leader after years of service to others.
