Heinrich Haussler on his up-and-down season and life beyond cycling

Cycling Tips, Matt de Neef, 30 June 2015

When the Tour de France begins in Utrecht this weekend it will do so without Australia’s road race champion, Heinrich Haussler. After a challenging season thus far, the IAM sprinter and Classics specialist is busy recharging mind and body before the second half of the season.

Everything is good with me at the moment

He’s back; IAM’s Heinrich Haussler was ‘quiet’ last year but in January he grabbed the first major result of 2015; the Australian Elite Road Race Championship.

Interview with Heinrich Haussler

Ride, Rob Arnold, 12 January 2015

He’s a rider with pedigree and panache. He has won a stage of the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España. He has been plagued with injury during his 10 years as a professional but when he’s not got a broken bone and is able to move freely, he’s fast. He’s Heinrich Haussler and he’s the new Australian champion.

I’m ready to race.

Velo Human, Cycling Tips, 9 January 2015

The past several seasons have not been easy for two-time Monument runner-up and Tour de France stage-winner Heinrich Haussler. After a marquee 2009 campaign in which he racked up those big results and a few others, crashes and injuries slowed him down for a number of the seasons that followed. Haussler recovered from a broken hip and pelvis in 2013 to race a full 2014 schedule, ultimately taking a stage win in Bayern Rundfahrt and a few top tens (including a 2nd place in the Tour de France) on the year, though the results were still not where they used to be.

I'm happy

Just a quick five stage tour, and then he left for his home in Fribourg-en-Brisgau, Germany. After four days racing around the roads of the international Tour du Poitou-Charentes, Heinrich Haussler found his confidence in the pack again following his heavy crash during the Tour of Switzerland. Just after the start of the stage from Leuggern, Thursday, June 13, the Australian IAM Cycling leader ended up on the ground. Despite the pain, the Swiss team’s puncheur tried to continue, but to no avail. Taken to the hospital...

Haussler: ‘I feel like I did in 2009′

VeloNews, Andrew Hood, 15 March 2013

LEON, Spain (VN) — After three frustrating seasons, Heinrich Haussler (IAM Cycling) says the magic is back and promises to be a factor in Sunday’s Milano-Sanremo. The German-Australian nearly won the 2009 edition of “La Primavera,” losing by fractions of an inch to Mark Cavendish just weeks before riding to second at the Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders). After injuries and an unsatisfying stint at Garmin-Sharp stymied his progress, Haussler made the move to the new Swiss IAM team for 2013.

Sé que puedo ganar la Milán - Sanremo

Cobbles & Hills, Vilares, 14 March 2013
Posted by: Bitossi

Velochrono.fr, Jerome Christiaens, 23 February 2013

Haussler in Qatar ahead of Classics

A new team, a new jersey but for Heinrich Haussler the focus remains on the Spring Cassics as he uses the Tour of Qatar to build his form. The 28-year-old switched from Garmin-Sharp to the Swiss IAM Cycling team in the off season and arrived in Qatar with what he believes is the best off-season training he’s had in several years.

Heinrich Haussler to skip Tour de France, focus on Classics & Olympics
